How is FRP pipe installed?

Time: 2026-03-11  |  619 views

(1) To ensure installation accuracy and uniform stress on the FRP pipe after installation, on-site fabrication by professionals based on site dimensions is permitted.

(2) For cutting FRP pipes, mark a cutting line at the required location, including a cutting line and a through cutting line connected to the cutting hole. Use an angle grinder equipped with a cutting disc to cut the pipe or hole at the marked line. The cut shall be smooth, with a dimensional deviation of 2 mm, and resin shall be applied. When cutting holes in FRP pipes, do not cut square holes.

(3) When laying the pipe, the pipe bearing shall face the direction of water inflow. FRP sand-filled pipes, with their advantages such as corrosion resistance, smooth inner surface, low energy consumption for transportation, long service life (over 50 years), ease of transport and installation, low maintenance cost, and low overall cost, have been widely used in industries such as petroleum, electric power, chemical engineering, papermaking, urban water supply and drainage, industrial wastewater treatment, seawater desalination, and gas transmission. To facilitate air venting during pressure testing at the pipe end, the pressure test hole shall be positioned directly at the top when installing FRP pipes, with an allowable deviation of +5 mm. When lowering FRP pipes into the trench, they shall not collide with the trench walls. The pipes laid in the trench shall not disturb the natural foundation. Each pipe shall be offset along the trench direction by 0.4 m relative to the adjacent pipe.

(4) Before installation, clean the pipe surface, the trench, and the rubber gasket. Lubricate the gasket and place it into the groove from the lower side without causing any deformation. Check the overall seating of the gasket by hand along the circumferential direction.

(5) Mark points and align. The LX value is measured from the center of the pressure test hole at the bearing port. Mark points from the centers of the two sealing rings toward the marking ring on the spigot end. Use the manual chain hoist method for installation. Slowly push the spigot into the socket until the end point of the spigot coincides with the marked point, i.e., the installation is in place.

(6) After installation, use a steel ruler to measure the distance from the marked point to the outer wall of the nearest sealing ring groove. The difference between L and the measured value shall be within 3 mm.

(7) Transition connection: At valve chambers and horizontal bends, transition between steel pipe and FRP pipe is required. The manufacturing process is: rust removal of the steel pipe short joint, sleeving of the steel pipe, application of interface agent on the mold, lining, and repair and removal of the blurred inner seam.
